What Firewall Settings Are Required?

If you're having trouble connecting a phone to the platform the firewall is a common culprit, sometimes you may need to open certain ports in your firewall to allow our traffic to communicate smoothly.

It's worth noting that most of the time you should not need to change any firewall rules.

All the below IP addresses are used by the phone system, we recommend allowing traffic to and from all of them.

Modules

Each module has a specific purpose:

  • CORE: Also referred to as SiPbx or NMS. The core servers are the core PBX software that handles call traffic. The portal is also hosted on the core servers.
  • ENDPOINTS: Also referred as the NDP or simply the Provisioning Server. These servers host device templates and firmware. Devices sync to the NDP to pull new updates to their configuration.
  • QOS: The QOS servers host monitoring software that allows us to generate packet capture files for calls and perform in depth troubleshooting for audio related issues.
  • RECORDING: The recording server generates call recordings for phone calls and then stores them in the appropriate storage location.

For a detailed breakdown of specific ports that are needed see below

NOTE: For SIP registration we use port 5080 on our servers and not port 5060 (5082 for TLS connections), this is important to know as it can affect what settings you put on your firewall.
