What Does "On-Net" and "Off-Net" Mean?
Sometimes On-Net and Off-Net is used to describe different types of call.
On-Net and Off-Net is used to differentiate between calls that stay on the phone system and calls that leave the phone system to the PSTN network.
An "On-Net" call is a call that stays on the phone system, an example of an "On-Net" call would be an internal call from one user to another. If one domain calls a number that is on the same server, this would also stay on the system and be referred to as "On-Net".
If you dial an external number that is not on the phone system, the call will route out through the SIP Trunks and onto the PSTN Network, this is an "Off-Net" call.
