Luminate Provisioning Tool - Guide

The Luminate Provisioning Tool allows you to zero touch provision devices in a single interface.

WARNING - The provsioning tool is a chargeable service, please see your rate card for more details. For any further questions please reach out to your account manager.

You can reach the provisioning tool at: https://luminate.uc-dashboard.co.uk/

The tool currently supports the following manufacturers:

  • Yealink
  • Polycom
  • Fanvil
  • Snom
  • Cisco (MPP Firmware Only)
  • Avaya J Series

NOTE - Grandstream support is planned but due to a bug with the Grandstream GAPS API this is not working at the moment. As we're waiting on Grandstream to fix the bug we do not an ETA for this.

To provision Grandstream handsets we recommend using the GAPS service directly, for this please contact your distributor. We can offer further advice if needed, if so please speak with your account manager.

How Does It Work?

The process for provisioning a device via the tool is as follows:

  1. Scan in your MAC addresses to the tool.
  2. Add your devices to the inventory in the portal. (See here)
  3. Factory Reset the device (If the phone is brand new, it doesn't need resetting. Only reset if the phone has been powered on before).

As long as everything is configured correctly, and there's nothing blocking the requests, the phones should provision automatically.

WARNING - Incorrect firewall rules will prevent phones from provisioning, please see the below guides:

Required Firewall Rules

How to troubleshoot provisioning issues.

The provisioning tool also has it's own set of firewall rules required, you can view these by clicking the button at the top of the page.

How to Scan Devices In

First, navigate to "Scan In" on the left hand side of the page.

Then enter all the mac addresses into the large box on the left, you can enter multiple MAC addresses separated by line.

If done correctly you should see the UI change like above, the manufacturer should be auto detected, just set the correct moodel.

When everything is set you should see the icon on the right hand change to "Ready To Submit".

When ready, click "Process Devices".

If successful, you will see a success message:

From here it's best practice to check the status of your device to ensure everything is working correctly, for this see below.

How to Check Device Status

First select the "Dashboard" option:

From here, scroll down to "Devices" and search for the device you want to check

From here the device will be one of 3 states:

Configured

This means the phone is added and ready to provision, but has not yet provisioned.

Live

This means the phone has successfully connected to the provisioning tool.

Manufacturer Redirect Failed

This is an error, and this means that the provisioning tool has failed to add the phone to the relevant manufacture's servers.

This is usually because the device is already on the manufacturer's servers but with a different provider (for example, if you've bought the phone second hand it may already be pointed to another provider).

To continue you need to have the device removed from the third party server, if you know who the third party is you can reach out to them and ask them to remove it, however if this isn't possible then you will need to do it a different way, the method for which depends on the manufacturer:

  • Yealink - See this guide.
  • Polycom - Polycom's have to be done manually by us, and cannot be done in batches less than 100. Please contact onboarding@luminatewholesale.com for more information.
  • Grandstream - We are unable to remove Grandstreams for you, however we do know that Grandstream distributors have the power to do this, so please reach out to your distributor.

IMPORTANT - Once you've had the MAC addresses removed from the third party server, you will need to refresh the device in the provisioning tool. To do this, first click on the mac address of the phone you need to refresh.

Then from here, you should see a "Failed ZTP Attempts" box, click "Reset" next to this.
